Israeli Army Says Nearly 7,000 Rockets Fired Towards Israel

JERUSALEM (Worthy News) – The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) say more than 6,900 rockets were fired from Gaza towards Israel over the last two weeks, with over 450 failed launch attempts within the Palestinian enclave.

The barrage of rockets has underscored the need to improve Israel’s air defense capabilities further, the army said.

Earlier in the week, U.S. President Joe Biden pledged to expand defense aid to Israel to bolster its Iron Dome air defense system.

Israel has reportedly asked for interceptors and additional Iron Dome batteries.

With Hamas launching nearly 7,000 rocket attacks on Israel since the start of this war, the Iron Dome missile defense system has been tested sling with its 90 percent protection rate, the military said. “We are desperately in need still of those Iron Dome missile defenses because we see exactly the terror that they can still unleash on us,” said IDForces spokesperson Fay Goldstein in published remarks.

The current armed conflict resulted in the tragic loss of over 1,400 lives in Israel, with 4,600 people sustaining injuries, the IDF said. Additionally, more than 200 hostages were taken by Hamas fighters during this period, according to IDF data.

KILLING HAMAS ASSOCIATES

Israeli forces “neutralized” over 1,000 individuals associated with Hamas, many of whom were intercepted after infiltrating Israel, the military added.

The Hamas-run health ministry says more than 4,000 people have been killed in Gaza since Hamas launched its attacks against Israel.

However, the IDF said that during these events, “dozens of senior Hamas terrorist leaders were eliminated.”

Israel has vehemently denied targeting civilians but says Hamas is putting its fighters and weapons among innocent Palestinians, using them as human shields.

The Israeli government says it seeks to destroy Hamas, which it designated as a terrorist organization.
