(Worthy News) – More than 1,300 people responded to an appeal by American evangelist Rick Gage to commit their lives to Christ at a 4-day Gospel crusade event in the southern US state of Mississippi earlier this month, The Christian Index (CI) reports.

Concluding on October 18, the event in Jackson, Mississippi was organized by Gage’s Georgia-based Go Tell Ministries together with dozens of local church leaders from diverse denominations, CI said.

The crusade was attended by around 17,000 people over the four days, with an estimated 10,000 participants on the final day, CI reports. According to Gage, 1,354 made salvation decisions during the event.

“We saw an incredible move of God throughout this whole campaign,” Gage said in a statement. “Anyone who says evangelistic outreach events don’t work anymore just needs to talk to the folks in central Mississippi.” Gage added that church leaders had worked hard to prepare for the event. “They also had a prayer team bathing this crusade in prayer for months and months,” Gage said. “They had people in private prayer rooms praying throughout the crusade.”

The event in Mississippi was Gage’s second such crusade in the southern US in two months, CI reports. On September 21, Gage led a Gospel event in Baxley, Georgia that was attended by 10,000 people with over 1,600 responding to an altar call to commit their lives to Christ.
