(Worthy News) – At least ten Christians were murdered in northeastern Nigeria last week when suspected radicalized Islamic Fulani herdsmen attacked villages in Taraba state, Morning Star News (MSN) reports.

Over 50,000 Christian Nigerians have been slaughtered by Islamic terrorists, including Fulani herdsmen, Boko Haram, and Islamic State West Africa since 2009.

In a text message to MSN, local resident John Chinyang said 10 Christians were killed in Taraba state’s Yangtu Development Area and Ussa Local Government Area on Friday: “Rampaging Muslim bandits on the evening of Nov. 24 attacked and killed over 10 Christians in some communities in Yangtu Development Area and Ussa Local Government Area. The bandits launched attacks against Rubur Ribasi, Nyicwu, and Ruwah communities of Yangtu Special Development Area.”

Another resident, Yakubu Tinya, told MSN: “The terrorists” shot at anyone they saw.” The Christians were killed around 6 pm either in their homes or on their way home from their farms.

Concerning the ongoing threat posed by Fulani herdsmen and other terrorists, Peter Shamwun, a member of the Ussa Local Council, told MSN: “There have been issues of Fulani bandits’ attacks in our area, and they’re constantly attacking our villages. The bandits also laid siege along Takum-Ussa road and other areas around the Yangtu community, where they killed many more Christians. And these terrorists have been attacking our communities without restraint from security agents.”

Nigeria ranks 6th on the US Open Doors World Watch List 2023 of the top 50 countries where Christians are persecuted.

Nigeria led the world in Christians killed for their faith in 2022, with 5,014, according to Open Doors’ 2023 World Watch List (WWL) report.
