FBI Accused of Amplifying Clinton-Linked Steele Dossier Ahead of 2016 Election; New Intelligence Set for Release

(Worthy News) – In a major development with far-reaching political implications, CIA Director John Ratcliffe revealed Sunday that newly declassified intelligence will expose the FBI’s active role in promoting the now-debunked Steele dossier and fueling false claims of Trump-Russia collusion ahead of the 2016 presidential election.

Ratcliffe, speaking on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures, said the declassification of classified annexes from the 2023 John Durham report will shed new light on the intelligence community’s conduct during the Trump-Russia probe. He stated that the FBI did not merely act on faulty information but served as “an accelerant” to the Clinton campaign-funded Steele dossier–deliberately amplifying false narratives while burying evidence pointing to a political operation.

“What hasn’t come out yet, and what’s going to come out, is the underlying intelligence in the John Durham report classified annex,” Ratcliffe said. “What that intelligence shows is that part of this was a Hillary Clinton plan, but part of it was an FBI plan… by pouring oil on the fire, by amplifying the lie and burying the truth of what Hillary Clinton was up to.”

The unverified dossier, compiled by ex-British spy Christopher Steele, contained wild and salacious allegations about Donald Trump and alleged Russian ties–many of which have since been discredited. The document was paid for by the Clinton campaign and used by the FBI to secure FISA surveillance warrants against Trump campaign adviser Carter Page, despite a lack of corroboration.

The Durham report, released last year, found that the FBI rushed into the Trump-Russia investigation without sufficient justification. It criticized the bureau for relying heavily on the unvetted Steele dossier and confirmed that an FBI attorney had altered evidence to obtain surveillance approval.

Adding to the explosive revelations, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard earlier this month released declassified documents indicating that President Obama had ordered the CIA to revise its 2016 post-election assessment. The revised version falsely claimed Russian election interference was designed to benefit Trump–despite internal warnings from senior CIA analysts, some of whom objected to including the discredited dossier in the official intelligence assessment.

According to Ratcliffe, the forthcoming intelligence further implicates former FBI Director James Comey and former CIA Director John Brennan, both of whom played leading roles in shaping the Trump-Russia narrative. Ratcliffe alleged that Comey’s 2020 congressional testimony contradicts the classified intelligence soon to be made public.

“These are prosecutable matters,” Ratcliffe warned, suggesting the conspiracy to undermine President Trump may still fall within the statute of limitations. He emphasized the need for accountability, echoing growing calls from Republican lawmakers for justice to be served.

As anticipation builds for the full release of the classified annexes, the political and legal ramifications could be significant–particularly if it confirms suspicions that elements within the intelligence community knowingly misled the public to damage a presidential campaign and later a sitting president.
