JERUSALEM/WASHINGTON/TEHRAN (Worthy News) – Iran on Monday denied claims by U.S. President Donald J. Trump that Washington and Tehran were engaged in “good and productive conversations” toward a potential agreement that could bring “longtime peace” for Israel.

Iran’s state-run broadcaster said no such discussions had taken place.

“No conversation has taken place between Iran and the U.S., and Trump’s claim about having these talks is false,” the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting said in a statement monitored by Worthy News.

The broadcaster described Trump’s remarks as “false claims” and suggested they were aimed at deflecting from recent U.S. threats against Iranian infrastructure.

It pointed to earlier warnings by Trump that key Iranian power facilities could be targeted within 48 hours.

IRAN REJECTS US CLAIMS

Iran also reiterated that its stance on the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz “has not changed,” amid ongoing disruptions to shipping in the waterway.

The narrow passage between Iran and Oman carries roughly one-fifth of the world’s oil supply, making it one of the most important global energy chokepoints, where any disruption can quickly impact fuel prices and markets.

In a video message reviewed by Worthy News, Iran’s military headquarters said it maintained control over the region and would act decisively if needed.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran fully controls the initiative in the Persian Gulf… and is managing the Strait of Hormuz in a smart and powerful manner,” the statement said.

It added there was “no need for mine-laying,” but warned that Iran would use “any means necessary” to ensure security.

STRAIT OF HORMUZ TENSIONS RISE

The statement concluded: “Victory comes only from Allah, the Almighty, the All-Wise.”

The Iranian denial came moments after Trump told reporters he believed a deal with Tehran was close.

“I think Israel will be very happy with what we have,” Trump said. “This will be peace for Israel — longtime peace, guaranteed peace if this happens, and I can’t guarantee it, but I think it’s going to.”

“My life is a deal — that’s all I do is deals my whole life,” he added, expressing confidence an agreement could be reached.

Trump also suggested that planned U.S. military action was being reconsidered.

TRUMP SIGNALS POSSIBLE BREAKTHROUGH

“We were expected to blow up their largest electric generating plants… One shot, it’s gone,” he said, referring to facilities he claimed were worth more than $10 billion.

“They called — I didn’t call — they want to make a deal,” Trump added, saying any agreement would require Iran to abandon nuclear weapons ambitions.

Earlier Monday, Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform that the United States and Iran had held “very good and productive conversations” over the past two days.

He said he had instructed officials to postpone potential military strikes on Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for five days to allow further discussions.

“Based on the tenor and tone of these… conversations, I have instructed the Department of War to postpone any and all military strikes… subject to the success of the ongoing meetings,” Trump wrote.

STRIKES DELAYED AMID CLAIMED TALKS

However, Iranian state media rejected that account, suggesting instead that Washington had backed down from earlier threats.

The conflicting narratives underscored the uncertainty surrounding the situation, as tensions remain high between the United States, Iran, and Israel.
