By Joseph DeCaro, Worthy News Correspondent

(Worthy News) – Police arrested a Christian in Chhattisgarh, India, for distributing brochures printed with excerpts from the Gospel.

According to Asia News, Umesh Patellast was arrested last week and charged with forced conversions for distributing religious brochures.

Forced conversions are a violation of Chhattisgarh state’s 2006 Freedom of Religion Act, which prevents conversions from Hinduism to other religions, yet doesn’t prohibit conversions to Hinduism.

Further, many areas local councils have passed by-laws under the Chhattisgarh Panchayat Raj Act, which bans all forms of non-Hindu propaganda, prayer and religious speech.
