US blames Iran for Yemeni rebel attack on Saudi oil facility

(Worthy News) – Yemeni rebels struck an oil field and a facility in Saudi Arabia Saturday that the Saudi Aramco said was the biggest in the world.
10 drones from the nation at the tip of the southern Arabian peninsula started fires and halted production in what the US said was an Iran-inspired attack, a US official adding Sunday that a dozen cruise missiles and 20 more drones had been launched from Iranian territory.
“Iran has now launched an unprecedented attack on the world’s energy supply,” U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said unequivocally.
Reuters reported Monday that 5% of global oil output had been stymied by the attack, and that prices for crude oil had risen by 19%, the largest spike since the Gulf War in 1991.
Iran Sunday denied any involvement, even while a senior Revolutionary Guards commander promised the Islamic Republic was nevertheless ready for “full-fledged war.”
