(Worthy News) – The Iranian telecommunications minister said Wednesday that Iran had foiled a large-scale cyberattack on its critical infrastructure by a highly sophisticated state-level team of hackers.
Mohammad Javad Azari claimed the “massive cyberattack” came from a “very organized and governmental” source.
A US cyberattack over the summer jammed Iranian computers used to target oil tankers in the Persian Gulf, and the release of the banking information online in recent days of one-fifth of Iran’s citizens following month-long protests lent credence to Iranian suspicions of US involvement.
An Iranian news outlet called the attack on the Islamic Republic’s banks, many of which were burned during protests, “the largest financial scam in Iran’s history.”
