(Worthy News) – Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced Tuesday that he is planning to make his first official visit to Bahrain in the near future, the Jerusalem Post reports. Like Sudan and the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain has recently signed a US-brokered normalization agreement with Israel.

In a statement Tuesday Mr. Netanyahu said he had spoken the day before with Bahraini Prime Minister Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. “This was our second conversation; it was very friendly,” Mr. Netanyahu said.

“Both of us are very moved by the fact that we can bring peace to our peoples and our countries in a very short time. Therefore, he also invited me to make an official visit to Bahrain soon. I will do so, on your behalf, with pleasure,” Mr. Netanyahu continued.

Israeli news outlet KAN reported that the Prime Minister may fly to Bahrain next week.
It is also expected that Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi will travel to Bahrain next week in order to open Israel’s first embassy there.

Mr. Netanyahu’s visit to Bahrain will follow his recent unprecedented meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Saudi Arabia, a country that remains an official enemy of Israel.
