UN Atomic Agency: Iran possibly closer to building nuclear warhead

iran nuclear deal(Worthy News) – Iran may have moved significantly closer to actually building a nuclear weapon, the Wall Street Journal reports. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said in a confidential report Wednesday that Tehran has started work on an assembly line for producing a central component of nuclear warheads.

In its report, the IAEA stated it was told by Iran that the regime has begun manufacturing equipment for use in the production of uranium metal, a necessary component for a nuclear warhead.

“This development brings Iran closer to crossing the line between nuclear operations with a potential civilian use, such as enriching nuclear fuel for power-generating reactors, and nuclear-weapons work, something Tehran has long denied ever carrying out,” the Wall Street Journal noted in its report.

However, Tehran has not yet started to produce uranium metal and has not given the IAEA a timeline for when it would begin to do so.

According to Iran, it would take four to five months for the regime to have the necessary equipment put in place to produce uranium powder from which uranium metal is made.
