(Worthy News) – Former U.S. President Donald J. Trump suggested Sunday that he might run for office again.

However, he ruled out launching a political party telling a conservative conference in Florida that it would split the Republican vote.

In his first speech since Democrat Joe Biden became president, Trump strongly criticized his successor, making clear that the United States needs a more decisive leader in 2024.

He said U.S. policy had gone from “America first to America last.” His speech came shortly after Trump lost a strong ally and friend, radio host Rush Limbaugh.

The conservative Limbaugh passed away last month after losing his public battle with lung cancer and telling his audience that he had “a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.”

Trump, who awarded Limbaugh the Presidential Medal of Freedom, made clear he wanted to continue pursuing a conservative agenda.

The 74-year-old leader is seen as a strong contender for a second presidential term after being acquitted in an impeachment trial last month.

“I stand before you today to declare that the incredible journey we began together four years ago is far from over,” he told the enthusiastic crowd at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Orlando.

“We are gathered this afternoon to talk about the future – the future of our movement, the future of our party, and the future of our beloved country.”

He dismissed any idea that he might start a new political party – describing claims he would do so as “fake news.” “Wouldn’t that be brilliant? Let’s start a new party so we can divide our vote and never win,” he joked. “We have the Republican Party. It’s going to unite and be stronger than ever before.”

His appearance at (CPAC) represents his continued influence over the Republican Party.

That was music to the ears of loyalist speakers such as Texas Senator Ted Cruz and his son Donald Trump Jr.

The former president remains banned from social media, including Facebook and Twitter, over what they claim was his role in January’s deadly riot at the U.S. Capitol.

However, Trump already took to the airwaves for lengthy interviews, including with Fox News.

He had been living at his Mar-a-Lago Florida golf resort since leaving the White House.

The annual CPAC, which attracts thousands of participants, was for the first time held outside Washington D.C.

Organizers said they moved to Florida as public health policies regarding coronavirus are different.

The state, while recommending face masks, is one of around a dozen states not to have a mask mandate and doesn’t have strict lockdowns.
