(Worthy News) – The co-founder of Afghanistan’s ruling Taliban has disappeared from public view after a reported internal row over the Islamist group’s new government.

Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar and a cabinet member clashed in the presidential palace over the composition of the government, senior officials told Britain’s BBC network.

Following the row, which occurred several days ago, Baradar disappeared, sources said.

The Taliban has officially denied tensions between different factions within the group.

If confirmed, the quarrels could undermine the Taliban’s attempts to maintain control over Afghanistan after capturing Kabul last month.

Since declaring the country an “Islamic Emirate,” fighters have been seen executing civilians, including a group of men, according to footage seen by Worthy News.

The Taliban’s new interim cabinet is entirely male and made up of senior Taliban figures, some of whom are notorious for attacks on American forces over the last two decades.

Thousands of Christians facing potential death under the new rulers’ strict interpretation of Islam as well as Americans and allies remain trapped in the country.
