UN Watchdog Condemns Nuclear Traces In Iran

VIENNA/BUDAPEST (Worthy News) – The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has condemned Iran after finding nuclear material at three undeclared sites amid concerns the Islamic nation will soon have atomic weapons.
The resolution backed by Britain, France, Germany, and the United States expressed “profound concern” about the “unexplained” nuclear traces.
It condemned the “insufficient cooperation” by Iran and urged Iran to engage with the watchdog “without delay.”
Iran deemed the report as “unfair” and “unbalanced,” but critics said Tehran failed to provide answers to IAEA inspectors.
Though about 30 countries have voted to censure Iran, Russia and China voted against the resolution. India, Libya, and Pakistan abstained.
Israel has also invested efforts behind the scenes to push for the condemnation, Israeli media reported.
Last week Rafael Grossi, the head of the United Nation’s nuclear watchdog, reportedly arrived in Israel ahead of the 35-nation IAEA board.
Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett welcomed the decision by the IAEA’s Board Governors. In a statement, he said, “This is a significant decision that exposes Iran’s true face.”
Israel has long warned that Iran is busy developing nuclear weapons. Tehran has denied wrongdoing saying its nuclear energy program is for “peaceful purposes.”
