Uganda: Evangelist murdered by Islamic terrorists after leading Muslims to Christ

(Worthy News) – An evangelist who led 100 Muslims to Christ following his own recent conversion was murdered by Islamic terrorists who slit his throat after a Christianity v Islam debate in eastern Uganda earlier this month, Morning Star News (MSN) reports.

Christianity v Islam debates have been highly effective in drawing Muslims to Jesus in Uganda, but a significant number of evangelists have risked and lost their lives in presenting the case for Christ at these events.

A father of four children aged 3 to 14 years old, Ahamada Mafabi, was killed after participating in a Christianity v Islam public debate in Nakaloke, Sironko District, on January 2, MSN reports.

As 13 Muslims gave their lives to Christ during the event, Islamic extremists among the public began to demand he leave the site, saying such things as ‘Mafabi, stop your blasphemous utterance of equating Issa [Jesus] to God, calling him the Son of God.’

Given the hostility of the Islamists, two other Christian men set out to escort Mafabi to his home in Butaleja District after the debate, MSN reports. One of the escorts, whose name has been withheld for security reasons, told MSN the attack on Mafabi happened at around 10 pm when men on motorcycles appeared on the road shouting at him.

“As they bypassed us, they shouted the Islamic slogan, ‘Allah Akbar’ [God is greater], and then hit our motorcycle down with a metal object,” the escort said. “The attackers overpowered him and cut his neck with a long Somali knife.” The escorts then fled for their lives.

Mafabi’s wife and children all need to be relocated, his pastor, whose name has been withheld for security reasons, told MSN. The pastor also requested prayer for the family who need support for food, shelter, and school fees. The murder has been reported, and police are understood to be investigating, the pastor added.
