(Worthy News) – More than 8,000 college students filled the Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center Tuesday night for a UniteUS campus revival event, where worship, testimonies, and a call to faith in Jesus Christ led to hundreds of baptisms.

The evangelistic outreach, geared toward Gen Z, drew an overwhelming response as approximately 500 students committed their lives to Christ, according to organizers. Many of them were baptized outside the arena in portable tanks while their peers looked on and celebrated.

“We are blown away by what God did tonight at the University of Tennessee with over 8,000 students gathering to lift the name of Jesus and over 500 salvation,” the UniteUS ministry posted on social media.

Students shared firsthand experiences online. “Hundreds, we witnessed hundreds get baptized tonight,” one attendee said in a video clip. “[We] witnessed thousands changed for the name of Jesus. There is a new thing coming to this generation, and UniteUS is a big part of it.”

UniteUS began in September 2023 at Auburn University, where more than 5,000 students gathered and 200 were baptized spontaneously in a nearby lake. Since then, the movement has spread to some 20 campuses across the United States.

Tuesday’s Knoxville event also featured encouragement from local sports figures. Tennessee basketball head coach Rick Barnes urged students beforehand to “bring a friend, pack this place out” and “worship our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.”

UniteUS founder and visionary Tonya Prewett praised the outcome: “This is a night we won’t forget! God is so good!”
