WASHINGTON D.C. Defense officials say the proposed deployment would include infantry and armored units, adding to the roughly 5,000 Marines and thousands of 82nd Airborne Division paratroopers already sent to the region. The buildup reflects a clear strategy: peace through strength.

“All announcements regarding troop deployments will come from the Department of War,” said Deputy White House Press Secretary Anna Kelly. “President Trump always has all military options at his disposal.”

While exact deployment locations have not been finalized, forces are expected to be positioned within striking distance of Iran, including near Kharg Island—Tehran’s key oil export terminal. Such positioning would give the United States the ability to rapidly respond to threats and protect global energy stability.
