Ukraine investigating ‘all possible causes’ of plane crash in Iran

by Jordan Hilger, Worthy News Correspondent

(Worthy News) – A Ukrainian passenger jet crashed minutes after takeoff from Iran Wednesday, killing all 176 passengers and crew.

The Boeing 737-800 left from Imam Khomeini International Airport in Tehran and was bound for the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv before a fire from a technical malfunction sent it down, according to initial assessments from Western intelligence sources and Iranian authorities.

“We must investigate all possible causes,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a Facebook post shortly after the Ukrainian government took down a statement from its website agreeing with the Iranian assessment.

The Jordanian Al Hadath news outlet claimed the plane had been shot down by Iran, but an unnamed Democratic lawmaker who sat in on the official briefing with President Trump following the downing of the jet said that the CIA also believed a technical failure to be the source of the crash.
