(Worthy News) – According to analysis by the Breaking Defense digital magazine, Iran may be developing a type of missile that can reach targets in the middle of Europe, Israel Hayom reported Tuesday. Breaking Defense believes the Iranians may be disguising a missile program as the space launch vehicle development.

Breaking Defense reports that Iran’s ballistic missile attack against Al Asad airbase in January shows it has made “great leaps in improving the accuracy of its ballistic missiles, using maneuverable re-entry vehicles with terminal guidance.”

Moreover, on April 22 Iran successfully launched the Noor satellite using a Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV) called Qased, Breaking Defense reported. The US Space Force reportedly confirmed that Noor arrived in orbit with something believed to be a spent upper stage. Reporting its analysis of Qased, Breaking Defense wrote: “[Qased] has a strong relationship to the Shahab-3 ballistic missile  and the Safir SLV, together with a number of unusual features for an SLV.”

“If SLV compromises were removed, restoring the design optimization for use as a ballistic missile, the Qased can reach Central Europe and parts of Northern Europe, depending on its payload mass,” Breaking Defense explained.

This analysis is consistent with the US government’s contention that Iran is hiding its construction of long-range ballistic missiles by masking it as space launch vehicle development, Breaking Defense said. Iran officially says its ballistic missiles have a maximum range of 2,000 km, enough to reach Israel.
