(Worthy News) – A new poll by Rasmussen shows that around two-thirds of American voters consider the current migrant situation at the US-Mexico border to be a “crisis,” and half believe the Biden administration is to blame for it, Fox 28 reports. The survey of 1,000 likely US was conducted on 9-10 May 2021.

The poll was taken after a surge of migrants, including unaccompanied minors, arrived at the US border with Mexico this year. According to the US Customs and Border Patrol, 172,000 arrived in March, compared to the significantly lower figure of 101,000 in February, Fox 28 said.

While the Biden administration has gone back and forth on whether the border is an actual “crisis,” the Rasmussen poll found that 66% of US voters believe that it is. Of these, 85% of Republicans said it is a crisis, 67% of unaffiliated voters agreed, while only 49% of Democrats agreed, CNS News reports. Only 22% said it is not a crisis, and 13% were unsure.

When asked whether “the nation’s current immigration problems” are due to the Biden administration or to the policies of former President Donald Trump, voters, 50% blamed Biden and 41% blamed Trump.

Among those who believe the situation is indeed a crisis, 69% percent blame the policies of US President Joe Biden.
