(Worthy News) – Millions of Americans will pray for their nation on the annual National Day of Prayer (NDP) on Thursday, May 5, CBN News reports. A 90-minute broadcast program hosted by the NDP Task Force together with Prayer.com will be live-streamed and will feature Christian pastors and musicians.

Established as a day set aside to pray for the nation, the NDP is observed on the first Thursday in May: the day was instituted by a joint resolution of Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman in 1952.

The theme of the 2022 NDP is “Exalt the Lord Who Has Established Us,” based on Scriptures from Chapter Two of Paul’s letter to the Colossians: “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” (Colossians 2: 6-7).

Hosted by NDP President Kathy Branzell, the live-streamed program will feature: Lecrae, Chris Tomlin, Matthew West, Pastor Robert Morris, Dr. Ed Young, Pastor Samuel Rodriguez Lecrae, and Beth Jones, among others, CBN said.

“Millions of people in tens of thousands of local community events are prepared to come together to join their hearts and voices in prayer – then at 8 pm ET, tens of millions from over 200 countries, connected by television, radio, social media, and websites, are prepared to pray together with the National Day of Prayer Broadcast – exalting the Lord Who has established us!” the NDP Task Force explains on its website.
