(Worthy News) – On December 7, House Republicans released a resolution outlining the formalization of the impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) cautioned earlier this week that House Resolution 918 lays out the official steps for the impeachment inquiry. However, it does not constitute an official impeachment vote.

Introduced by Rep. Kelly Armstrong (R-ND), the 14-page resolution directs the House Ways and Means, Oversight and Accountability, and Judiciary committees to persist in their investigation of President Biden.

The scrutiny revolves around allegations of Biden’s financial gains during and after his vice-presidential tenure, mainly through family-related foreign business transactions, including those with China, implicating his son, Hunter Biden.

“The House has no choice if it’s going to follow its constitutional responsibility to formally adopt an impeachment inquiry on the floor so that when the subpoenas are challenged in court, we will be at the apex of our constitutional authority,” Speaker Johnson said.

For the impeachment inquiry vote to pass, nearly all House Republicans must vote in favor of the investigation. This would signify their public endorsement of a process that has the potential to result in the ultimate consequence for a president – removal from office for acts defined by the Constitution as “high crimes and misdemeanors.”

The resolution is set for markup on December 12, and a vote is anticipated in the latter part of next week.

The White House has consistently rejected any investigations into alleged illegalities, labeling them a “baseless exercise.”
