French President seeks to address African terrorism

(Worthy News) – French President Emmanuel Macron is hosting several African leaders this week to discuss Islamic extremism that is spreading across the continent, seeming to give heed to a recent warning from a French philosopher that a Rwanda-style genocide is developing there.

Macron met with the Presidents of Mali, Burkina Faso, Chad, Niger, and Mauritania, and telegraphed to President Trump that the US presence in Africa is absolutely necessary in light of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), the “priority enemy because it’s the most dangerous.”

“If the Americans were to decide to withdraw from Africa, it would be bad news for us. I confirm it,” Macron said. “I hope I can convince President Trump that the fight against terrorism, in which he is deeply engaged, is also at stake in this region.”

French philosopher Bernard-Henry Levy, after witnessing the carnage against Christians in Nigeria, where the Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust (HART) says 6,000 believers have been killed since 2015, recently published a warning in the French magazine Paris Match.

“Will we wait, as usual, for the disaster to be consumed in order to be moved?” Levy asked. “And will we remain idly by while the Islamist international, contained in Asia, fought in Europe, defeated in Syria and Iraq, opens a new front on this immense land where the sons of Abraham coexisted for a long time?”

Over 1,000 Christians have been killed in Nigeria alone over the last year.
