Pentagon: ‘Special US, NATO Forces In Ukraine’

WASHINGTON/KYIV/BUDAPEST ( (Worthy News) – More details have emerged about Western special forces inside Ukraine after Worthy News initially reported that troops from the NATO military alliance were in the wartorn nation.

Leaked U.S. military files, some marked “top secret,” include a document showing that Britain has the largest contingent of special forces in Ukraine (50), followed by fellow NATO military alliance states Latvia (17), France (15), the United States (14) and the Netherlands (1).

A senior U.S. security official told Worthy News in January last year that American military personnel were in Ukraine. However, the White House insisted later that no combat troops were on Ukrainian territory.

The U.S. source, which accurately predicted when the Russian invasion would begin, told Worthy News that American troops in Ukraine include “special forces and of the U.S. Air Force.”

The presence of special forces in Ukraine was expected to be seized upon by Moscow, which has, in recent months, argued that it is not just confronting Ukraine but NATO.

British special forces comprise several elite military units with distinct areas of expertise and are regarded to be among the most capable in the world.

The British Ministry of Defense cautioned that some of the alleged U.S. classified military files also called the “Pentagon documents,” were doctored.

URGING CAUTION

“Readers should be cautious about taking at face value allegations that have the potential to spread misinformation,” it said.

Yet while documents about casualty figures were changed, those related to special forces and a planned spring counter appear genuine, several sources suggest.

Several classified documents paint a grim picture of Ukraine’s medium-range air defenses to protect front-line troops saying they will be “completely reduced by May 23.”

They suggest Russia could soon have aerial superiority, and Ukraine could lose the ability to amass ground forces in a counteroffensive.

If details are as severe as recent reporting suggests, then “the impact to relations with foreign partners may be significant,” warned retired U.S. Army Brigadier General Kevin Ryan, a former defense attaché to Russia.

Many documents bear classification marks for the “Five-Eyes” network — the U.S., Canada, Britain, Australia, and New Zealand.

U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said the Department of Justice had opened a criminal investigation, and he was determined to find the source of the leak. “We will continue to investigate and turn over every rock until we find the source of this and the extent of it,” he said.

Ex-military and current intelligence officials say the leak is embarrassing to the United States and poses a significant national security threat.
