Thousands Protest Hungary’s ‘Anti-LGBT Law’ 

Thousands of Hungarians, many armed with rainbow flags and rainbow umbrellas, have demonstrated against a law that bans teaching about homosexuality and transgender issues in schools. Saturday’s Budapest Pride march came after the self-declared conservative Prime Minister Viktor Orbán confirmed a referendum on what he called the “child protection” legislation. 

Federal judge blocks Arkansas law banning transgender surgery/hormones for minors; 17 Republican states join

At the request of the American Civil Liberties Union on behalf of families of transgender youth, on Wednesday a federal court in Arkansas blocked a new state law that would ban transgender surgery and hormones for minors under the age of 18, the Washington Times reports. Seventeen Republican states joined with Arkansas in defending the law, which would have gone into effect on July 28.

Virginia Dept. of Education publishes new transgender policies, instructing schools to end gender-segregated activities

Virginia’s Department of Education has published a document titled Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students, in which it instructs local school boards to end sex-segregated activities that may cause transgender students to feel marginalized or excluded, Just the News reports. School boards have until the start of the 2021-2022 school year in September to adopt policies in line with the Model Policies document.

Virginia school board appealing against reinstatement of teacher suspended for objecting to transgender policy

Virginia’s Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) board has said it is appealing against a Circuit Court order that reinstated Christian teacher Tanner Cross, who had been suspended for refusing to address children by a gender pronoun of the opposite sex, CBN News reports. LCPS said it “respectfully disagrees with the Circuit Court’s decision to order the reinstatement of Cross to his position at Leesburg Elementary school.

Indiana Baptist church ordains transgender pastor

The University Baptist Church in Bloomington, Indiana has ordained a transgender woman, Church Leaders reports. The ordination of Laura Bethany Buchleiter took place on May 23, a few weeks after the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America elected its first transgender bishop.

Biden proclaims June is Pride Month

US President Joe Biden has issued a proclamation accepting June as Pride Month in America, the Hill reports. The American LGBT community has been celebrating June as Pride Month since the Stonewall riots of June 1969.

Christian realtor to leave real estate business over LGBT beliefs

A Minnesota-based Christian realtor, and former member of the LGBT community, has decided to let his license expire because his broker does not allow public expression of Biblical beliefs on homosexuality. Realtor Matt Moore announced his decision on Twitter Friday, and asked his followers for prayer as he and his wife seek God for a new direction.
