(Worthy News) – Israel’s head of missile defense said Tuesday that he would consider working with Arab Gulf states on mutually beneficial missile defense programs, World Israel News reports.

In a statement Moshe Patel, the head of Missile Defense Organization within Israel’s Defense Ministry said there would be many advantages to Israeli cooperation with Gulf countries on missile defense: “Information can be shared, like sensors that can be deployed in both countries because we have the same enemies,” he said.

A number of Gulf States are reportedly interested in cooperation with Israel. In particular, there is interest in purchasing Israeli electronic missile defense systems and Israel’s famous Iron Dome military technology which shoots down incoming rockets, WIN said.

According to WIN, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, two countries which recently agreed to normalize ties with Israel are “prime customers,” for Israeli military merchandise. Saudi Arabia is also expected to be interested. All three of these Arab countries have now been threatened by the Iranian regime – something that Israel is already very well accustomed to.

In regard to what Israel has in common with the Gulf States, Patel told Defense News last month: “Since we have the same enemies, maybe we are going to have some mutual interests. I think that there is a potential to enlarge our defense partnership in the future,” WIN reported.
