(Worthy News) – Responding to Vladimir Putin’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine, US-based Christian ministry CityServe has mobilized to supply one million hot meals to Ukrainians who are still in their country and to refugees who have fled to neighboring nations including Poland and Romania.

CityServe “trains, equips, and mobilizes the local church to live out the Gospel of Jesus Christ in its community through compassion,” the ministry explains on its website.

During the Ukrainian crisis, the European branch of the ministry has been working through a large network of local churches in Baltic countries to distribute hot nutritious meals as well as emergency supplies and connections to shelter.

“Local churches in Ukraine and surrounding regions are on the front lines of this grave and devastating crisis. CityServe Europe’s mission is to empower and resource local churches as they welcome and care for refugees with open arms,” Karl Hargestam, Executive Director of CityServe International, explains in a website statement.

Meals have been distributed in partnership with the US-based MercyChefs non-profit disaster relief organization, which “provide professionally prepared, restaurant-quality meals to victims, volunteers, and first responders.”

In addition to providing humanitarian aid, CityServe aims to share with suffering Ukrainians “the Gospel of Jesus – the True Hope,” the ministry attests in a website statement.
