BERLIN (Worthy News) – German police say they have detained the driver who reportedly deliberately drove his car into students in the capital Berlin killing the teacher.

Five people are currently in life-threatening condition after the apparent terror attack in Berlin’s district of Charlottenburg.

Local media said police found a confession letter in the car of the suspected driver, a 29-year-old man with German-Armenian dual citizenship.

Germany’s mass-circulation daily Bild cited an investigator saying that the tragedy was “in no way an accident.”

Witnesses said the suspect initially ran away and was stopped and handed over to police.

The attacks took place Wednesday morning local time on Rankestrasse (Ranke Street) near the central shopping district’s Breitscheidplatz (Breischeid Square), the scene of a 2016 Christmas market attack killing 11 people.

The location is also near the war-ravaged Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, one of Berlin’s best-known landmarks.
