Renominated Trump Defends God In Pledge of Allegiance

(Worthy News) – U.S. President Donald Trump pledged Monday that God remains in the Pledge of Allegiance after the Republican Party nominated him for a second term in the White House.

Trump spoke in an acceptance speech following in a roll call vote where Republican delegates officially choose him to lead the United States for four more years.

In characteristically wide-ranging remarks, the president stressed that he “would not take the word ‘God’ out of the Pledge of Allegiance.”

He has accused the rival Democratic Party of taking God out of the Pledge at last week’s national convention.

It was a reference to several caucuses held on the sidelines of the main evening program of the Democratic convention began. The Democratic Party’s ‘Muslim Delegates and Allies Assembly’ and the LGBTQ Caucus meeting left out “under God” from the Pledge during their gatherings.

GOD IN PLEDGE

“The Democrats took the word GOD out of the Pledge of Allegiance at the Democrat National Convention, “ Trump wrote earlier over the weekend on social networking site Twitter.

“At first I thought they made a mistake, but it wasn’t. [But] it was done on purpose,” he added. “Remember Evangelical Christians, and ALL, this is where they are coming from-it’s done. Vote Nov 3!” Trump wrote.

The Pledge was written in 1892 and altered in the 1920s. “Under God” was added in 1954, when President Dwight Eisenhower encouraged Congress to do so.

As Trump spoke at the Republican National Convention, supporters could be heard chanting, “Four more years!”.
Trump called the November 3 presidential ballot, “the most important election in the history of our country.”

He warned in his unscheduled appearance that the United States “can go in a horrible direction or an even greater direction.”

CORONAVIRUS TOLL IMPACT

Trump has sought to minimize the toll of the Coronavirus pandemic that has overshadowed his presidency in recent months.

But the impact of what Trump regularly calls the “China virus” was evident as the Republican convention started in Charlotte. Instead of the thousands of people who were expected to converge on this city for a week-long extravaganza, just 336 delegates participated in a roll-call vote from a Charlotte Convention Center ballroom.

Trump said he had made the trip in contrast to his Democratic rival, Joe Biden. Republicans have called Trump’s opponent “basement Biden” who never traveled to Wisconsin, the state where the Democratic convention was supposed to be held.

As he accepted the nomination, Trump was raising questions about the integrity of the upcoming election. He again criticized plans for mail-in voting that he claims could open the gates for massive election fraud.

His speech was music to the ears of Vice President Mike Pence he told the cheering convention earlier that “We’re going to Make America Great Again, again.”

RIGHT TO LIFE

Pence also told the happy but socially distanced reduced crowd that the Trump-Pence ticket stood for “free-market economics, secure borders” and the “right to life.”

And with many American cities facing daily violent protests, he underscored that the president will “always stand with the men and women who serve on the thin blue line of law enforcement.”

Pence added: “Four more years means more [conservative] judges. Four more years means more support for our troops and our cops. It’s going to take at least four more years to drain that swamp.”

He criticized the Democrats’ charge that the November 3 election was a referendum on democracy itself. Pence told the delegates, “the economy is on the ballot.”
